汉英法律语篇翻译中词语意义的界定

 摘　要：汉语法律语篇英译的难点之一就是在两种语言中找出对等词语。许多翻译中与此有关的失误均与译者对法律语篇中词语意义界定的模糊有关，而根本原因则是由于译者缺乏相关的法律知识，或是由于译者不能处理好两种语言或文化之间的差异。本文主要讨论的词语包括：法律专业术语、专业行话、含有法律专业意义的普通词以及共同语中的多义词语。

Semantic Analysis of Words and Terms Used in Chinese-English Legal Translation

 Abstract: One of the challenges in C-E translation of legal texts is to find English equivalents for words and terms in the Chinese original, including legal terms, special jargons, and everyday words used in legal contexts. Inaccuracies and errors occur frequently in this respect, and many of them are in one way or another caused by the translator’s failure to detect shades of semantic differences in seemingly exact equivalents of the two languages. In most cases, this failure is due to the translator’s lack of legal knowledge, and to his or her inability to address the differences in languages and cultures as well.
